Megabass Popmax

Based on a hand-carved original by Yuki Ito, the Megabass PopMax topwater lure builds on the success of the popular Megabass Pop-X with a larger body and a redesigned gill system. This unique system features six water intakes and a water chamber that produce lifelike bubbles and chugging action. As water flows through the gills and exits the sides, it creates a distinctive surface splash, while additional intakes feed an internal chamber, releasing bubbles and subtle water disturbances that attract fish.

The gill system also acts like a lip, using water pressure through the lower chamber to stabilize the lure and prevent it from skipping across the surface. This helps the PopMax stay grounded for faster, more controlled retrieves. When paused, water drains from the chamber, causing the lure’s head to lift slightly—mimicking a fish surveying its surroundings.

The Megabass PopMax can be fished like a traditional popper or, with subtle rod-tip action, worked to roll-walk dynamically, blending the actions of both poppers and walking baits. For best results, try it around rocky banks, riprap, over grass beds, or along shallow points—especially early in the morning.
